The Embodied Way Connection
A Beautiful Space for You
Every now and then, I watch a movie that is truly wonderful! This past week it was The Ballad of Wallis Island. It was funny, poignant, simple, and touching to my soul.
I wonât watch just any old movie that comes across my doorstep. They have to have a 75% or above on Rotten Tomatoes. Then, once itâs started, I need to like at least one of the characters or itâs a no-go. Some might say I am a movie snobâŚand they would be correct. đ
But, snob or not, I appreciate movies and always have. My first in-theatre feature was Bambi and wow! how it delighted me- even though it was so sad too!
Movies help me see the world from a different perspective and this helps me see myself and the world differently. Sometimes, they help me access emotions that I need to release, but havenât been able to yet. Nothing better than an ugly, resourcing cry from a movie! Or a giant light-up-the-spirit laugh. Movies are a whole-being experience that touches all the senses.
Creating experiences that change you is what I do best here at The Embodied Way. Sometimes we will laugh, sometimes we will cry, and sometimes we will just enjoy the simple ritual of self-care. As a result, you will feel more confident, connected, cherished, and resourced for your life. See you soon!
I have a favourite new daily read. It's called Daybreak Notes and Beans and the Dutch writer Alexander Verbeek is on a mission to bring positive news to the reader. It's interesting, well-written and very uplifting. I love the boost when there is so much negative news to process right now.
Besides resourcing me, the newsletter makes me check in. đ
Am I setting up my life to create nervous system balance, cultivate positive energy, and create yummy, sensorial experiences? Or have I got caught in a Negative Nelly cycle?
Good resourcing practices should include the different senses. Does something smell delicious to you? How about the feel when you touch it? How does it register when you hear it? Is what you are seeing pleasing to the eye?
But, don't leave resourcing the nervous systems to just the senses.
We might also consider how something touches our soulâŚDoes it inspire us, lift us up, or provide a sense of belonging and connection? Do we feel better about ourselves? Are we listening to what is right and good for us?
I have recommitted to finding small moments in the day to inject a little good ju-ju into my body and mind. Often it doesnât take much to do so. I don't know why I make a way bigger deal out of the effort than it actually takes. LOL. Besides, if I contemplate for two seconds, I can find something right under my nose that will resource me.
One of my favourite things in August is to listen to the crickets as dusk falls. These sounds are available to me everyday. All I need to do is be still and listen for a couple of minutes. I imagine the crickets are making their music to let me know that even when life is complicated, there are simple pleasure in simple sounds, and that I am not alone. It is grounding, regulating to know this.
I love Colour Glow! I have been using this for years in place of a foundation. If you are like me, you might not like the heavy feeling of foundation and prefer a âmake-upâ free look. Or maybe, you struggle to find a foundation with a colour that matches your seasonal changes in skin tone. Or maybe, the foundation you have been using no longer suits your skin and it feels overwhelming to find a new one that works.
If any of those are true for you, then you will enjoy Colour Glow.
Colour glow is a mineral pigment concentrate that transforms any cream into a custom- tinted moisturizer. It also provides an instant glow and is a healthy natural look.
Even better? A little goes a long way! One tube will last you up to a year which is also easy on your wallet.
To order online you will have to enter my phone number for The Embodied Way (250 701 3550). Shipping is FREE on orders over $100.
PS. As a reminder, Laboratoire Dr. Renaud are a Canadian-made products from Quebec. The Canadian company has been in existence for over 75 years and is committed to quality and effectiveness.
Summer Specials
Seen too much sun? Need a treatment that is cooling and gives you an instant glow? If so, you will love the Collagen Veil Facial. Itâs the perfect summer skin soother.
For the Summer Season (June -September), I have paired the Ultra-Moisturizing Collagen Veil with a FREE Moor Mud Back Mask. Nothing says renewal and rest like a Collagen Veil Facial. This facial is is hydrating and healing.
Moor mud is from Bavaria and is an organic tonic for the skin and the body. It relaxes, tones, and soothes. Moor mud also stimulates your circulation which nourishes and rejuvenates your skin (and soul!).
And for your body? Do you want to keep your skin super soft while enjoying all your favourite outdoor activities? LULU life Shea butter is your ticket to all of this and for the rest of July and August is 15% off.
Sudanese Shea Butter even has a natural SPF of 8 - not enough for a full sun exposure, but great if you need something in the early morning or evening and donât want to coat yourself with regular sunscreen. Available in-studio only.

âThe crickets usher in a softness that smooths the harsh edges of a day now passing. And if their song does not somehow lull us to a softer sleep, then we have become deaf to things that matter in the process of listening to all that does not.â Craig D. Lounsbrough
âI fell asleep there in the quiet rustling of the tree branches that swayed in the breeze. I slept alongside the souls of those I'd never known, as the stars sparkled overhead like glitter and the crickets sang their song to the Carolina girl in their midst.â ââMeagan Church, The Last Caroline Girl
Endnotes
A few more notes about crickets: Crickets are often associated with nature's sounds and transitions, particularly the end of summer. They're also linked to intuition and mindfulness. Their chirping encourages a connection to the present moment.
PS I am looking for a new tenant for mornings and early afternoons at The Embodied Way. If you know someone who needs space to practice their specialty, please pass on my contact! Reasonable rent and a lovely environment.
