The Embodied Way Connection

A Beautiful Space for You

A moment of quiet and enough space around you is critical for the nervous system. As the fall begins, I crave some time to just be and time to resource myself before the winter. As if I am a squirrel gathering nuts for the coming season!

Imagine, the right music along with some gentle, pleasant aromas. Imagine different sensations on the skin. Imagine, pleasing warmth, caring touch, and an empathetic, trained coaching ear. Imagine a place where you feel understood, valued, respected and appreciated.

The world is a crazy place. I seek to make it calmer and more beautiful. Which is why I choose to create experiences that help you connect with and care for yourself. This is so you can look forward to your life and make the most of it.

Notes from Glenda

Have you ever had a crisis in confidence? Me too. It seems like every decade brings me at least one good crisis and I find myself just coming out of my most recent one. It has been big and ugly and no fun whatsoever.

Yet, if I look back, after every crisis in confidence come some new, and major growth. As if, the crisis is part of the process, because it forces a reckoning. It seems to be the tool to shake down old paradigms and ideas about myself. Paradigms and ideas that got me to where I am, but are no longer useful for where I want to go.

My job, in these crises, is to not focus on what’s wrong, but to instead look at the situation with an observer's view. With the observers lens I look for how I chose to fight through, or pivot, or learn from the experience.

In post trauma growth, I call this ‘making sense of my story’. When rebuilding confidence, this means looking for the actions that are resilient. We look not at what mistakes we made, but at all the ways we kept going when we fell down.

Like when a baby learns to walk and they fall down a ton. Do they lie there forever and wail about how crappy they are at walking? No, they they get up and keep going. We all know how to get up and we all know how to figure out our next step.

I did this several nights ago. I was in the throws of the most vicious migraine I have had in months. I know that when it’s that bad, there is an emotional component I need to deal with. Usually, it's something I have been avoiding or haven’t made sense of yet. Or, something it’s time to appreciate and acknowledge rather than bury or beat myself up about.

So, I took myself to the time of my life that I have been pussy-footing around for a long time. Then, I looked, really looked with a different point of view. I looked for the strengths I had and the creativity I showed. I looked for how I had been brave, willing to adventure and learn, and how I did what I could in a difficult situation. This perspective changed everything. The sun rose in the morning and so did I with ‘relief’ in my head and a list of ‘successes’ that I could apply to my day and life.

My point is, when there is a crisis in confidence, we need to stop looking for all the shit. If you look for shit, you will find it.

Instead, we need to look for the good and build on that. If you look for good, I promise you will find it. Let it be a beacon to carry you forward. Will it make everything perfect? No, this is not a Pollyanna tactic, but it will help you put some new confidence stakes in the ground. It will also support your nervous system. A well regulated nervous system is essential for confidence to grow.

Yes, there is always good. Go in with curiosity, and assume that you can find the good. Help your eyes and your mind see the full picture.

This is how you can build and embody new confidence after a crisis in confidence.

Do you ever have a sensitive skin issue that you simply don’t know how to help?
I get it. I have always had ‘sensitive skin’ and random skin issues like eczema that flair up once in a while.

Last week was such an occasion. I got an iron infusion (my first one) and what wonder…I am in the rare 1% that had a reaction. I got a fabulous rash on my face, neck and decolletté. It was so uncomfortable, both physically and psychologically! It was like the skin of my teen years when I had eczema all over my face. I felt embarrassed, uncomfortable, and frustrated.

I want people to find solutions for their skin issues too, it’s one of the reasons I became an esthetician. Comfortable, well-cared for skin makes every day better!
When skin things happen, I am so glad I have access to products that can provide real relief.

The Tolerance+ Ultimate Comforting Mask for sensitive, reactive skin provides relief and healing. You can even leave this mask on overnight for superior results. Do you need everyday support to make your skin less reactive, more beautiful and soothed? Then this mask is for you. The bonus? It can is useful for acute relief as well.

Did you know I also have a couple of fantastic facials for sensitive skin? They feel wonderful and give you excellent results.

1. The Rosa C-3 Optimal facial (perfect for those with rosacea).

2. The HydraScience Optimal Facial (for those with a lack of moisture and hydration).

PS. As a reminder, Laboratoire Dr. Renaud are a Canadian-made products from Quebec. The Canadian company has been in existence for over 75 years and is committed to quality and effectiveness.

Autumn Specials

Hands…they do so much for you and sometimes, they are the LAST thing to get some TLC. Some even say…’Why bother, I am always in the garden/doing dishes/hard on my hands etc.’

But you know what, your hands are one of the first things people see when they see you. A well-groomed hand says a lot. This doesn’t mean you have to have the latest polish or elaborate gem-stones or nail art. Actually, a natural nail is quite beautiful when the hand and nail beds are nicely cared for.

My hands transformed when I started to do regular manicures and yours could be too. I usually keep my nails ‘au natural’ and so I like my nails to look cared for no matter what. Then I am ready to meet the world and my hands are ready to continue to work for me and feel appreciated:)

This next quarter, my specials feature some lovely ways to keep your hands at your best.
